We have worked in partnership with the Transformation Trust since 2010/11 designing and delivering workshops and resources. The Transformation Trust is an educational charity, set up in 2009 with the support of funding from private businesses, that works with some of the most challenged schools in the country.
Here’s a selection of the activities we have designed / delivered with the Trust:
Powering Transformation with DELL is a programme that allows students to explore uses of new technology AND create lasting change. We designed the programme to support schools in creating solutions to local problem using £30k of loaned technology. Teams of students make and upload videos about social or environmental issues and their solutions with winning schools earning days out and technology prizes.
Skills for Life is a mentoring scheme for Year 12 students that we designed in partnership with the Prudential and the Transformation Trust. You can read more about it here [link to page 18]
Rock Club is a maths challenge and series of resources for Year 7 / 8s in schools and was designed around the Trust’s Rock Assembly – where 10,000 students come free to Wembley arena for an end of term gig! Rock Club exposes the ‘secret maths’ behind music events and we run it as an enterprise day as well as class room sessions.
We have delivered and facilitated LifeSkills workshops since 2012 with the Transformation Trust across the UK. People Skills, Money Skills and Work Skills are all delivered – with Barclays volunteer staff – into challenged schools and our aim is to support disadvantaged students to improve their skills.
