For the last couple of years my friends Rachel and Warren have been creating modern, heartfelt and powerful greetings cards from their studio on the Wirral. We’ve been friends for quite a while and earlier this year they got in touch to ask me if I’d be interested in coming up with a range of cards for men and boys that challenges the stereotypical ‘rules’ of male cards: cars, sport, beer, ineptitude. They told me they were at a greetings cards awards fair and the men’s category was won by a card with a DRILL on it. FACEPALM
We decided to change that and we’re so proud to launch the LoveLossDiscoBalls X WhatMakesAMan range.
A range of cards that changes the dynamics and boxes that dated cards seem to want us to stay in.
A range that is supportive of masculine diversity.
A range that actively suggests different ways to challenge the way men and boys are represented.
We hope that the simple act of sending a card can open debate, rekindle a friendship or affirm the belief that Man Box thinking helps no one and that we’re free to be who we want to be when new dismantle the shackles of manhood. (As a bonus, we send a donation to tech Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) too!)
