We’ve partnered with professional Voice Over artist and TV Star Gema Enseñat to create two brilliant confidence-building, self-reflection and public-speaking workshops for girls! Even if you don’t thin you know Gema, you almost certainly will have heard her voice! She is the voice of the ITV Weather Sponsored By Heinz campaign!
Here are a couple of examples of Gema’s work: BIG SOUP CHICKEN SOUP.
Now, you will know that we work with boys and mixed groups on masculinities and stereotypes, but having worked together for the past decade or more on enterprise confidence and careers workshops, I asked Gema if she would put her skills into a couple of workshops for girls that will l support self-development, careers and personal presentation.
The two workshops she’s come up with will really support your girls to get the best out of themselves in whatever situation they find themselves – here are the workshops in Gema’s own words:
FIND YOUR VOICE: A high-energy workshop introducing students to the profession of voice-over work, whilst developing communication skills, honing key active listening skills, and building confidence in their own skillsets. Designed as a one or two hour workshop for up to 60 students.
SELL IT LIKE A BOSS: A highly interactive workshop, using Gema Enseñat’s background as a TV presenter, with students developing their own voice, learning how to sell themselves whilst communicating confidently. A session to analyse personal USPs, learn how to apply sales techniques to a person, and hone interview & presentation skills, before going on to deliver a pitch. Designed as a half day session for smaller numbers of girls who need additional support or a real boost of confidence, or as with Find Your Voice it can be delivered as a one to two hour workshop for larger numbers.
The GEC and THO Body Image research from 2023 tells us that girls are experiencing low levels of body confidence (83% described their body confidence as ‘not positive’ and high levels of pressure to look a certain way (64 to 71% said they felt pressure to look and appear a certain way due to social media and other social pressures) and these elements are leading to a lack of confidence and social awkwardness.
Meanwhile The Girlguiding Association’s surveys regularly assess girl’s experiences of the world, and lately more and more focus into their experiences online. The most recent report in 2024 tells us that: 47% of girls feel unsafe due to the rise in sexism in recent year – up from 17%; 59% pf girls aged between 13 – 21 years have expedited sexualhurassmenrt in public, at school or in college / university and, tragically, only 25% of the whole survey cohort feel ‘confident about their futures’.
These two snapshots are combined with girls snd young women having to compete for university and work place interviews, needing to develop their confidence skills and presence alongside assertiveness in educational settings with boys who are becoming more sexist and in many cases misogynistic – we think it’s time to inspire and support girls towards the best, most confident and outspoken versions of themselves.
Available to schools and colleges in and around the South East and London initially, we have s number of dates available in the post-exam, final term of 2024.25’s academic year.
