We’re off.
We’re going.
We’ve decided.
After more than 15 years on Twitter / X we’ve decided that we can’t stay there any longer.
After the new owner has removed safeguards, moderation and increased not only his own, but the ability to promote disinformation, it’s time to go.
Twitter used to be fun, engaging, great for debate and wonderful for connecting to clients and friends – much of my work in the past has come through recommendations on the platform and at the end of 2024 there were over 17,000 people following @_WhatMakesAMan_ – this has been gradually dwindling to 16,700 and whilst this number is something I’m proud of, there’s no rhyme or reason for the drop and also the engagement rate we are all seeing is muted in favour of ‘blue tick’ paid for accounts.
The tipping point was the salute on Trump’s inauguration day – that wasn’t an accident in my book, I mean, how many hundreds of other gestures are available to someone to ‘send their heart out’ in front of the eyes of the world on a very important day in the USA’s political calendar.
Nope – that’s it.
Enough.
As the graphic says, we’re building on Instagram and Threads as well as BlueSky.
Please come and follow us over there.
Bernie. x
